This week I met Maryse Ewanjé-Epée. She was a champion high jumper from the 80’s and 90’s. She is now a journalist working on television and radio with a reputation for straight talking. Her first book ‘Les négriers du foot’ or ‘Soccer Kids’ published in France by Rocher, is no exception. She deals with one of the uglier sides of the beautiful game, namely the traffic in young African footballers lured over to Europe with promises of places in clubs and training centres.
